Sustainability in Stockholm

Sweden wants to become one of the world’s first fossil fuel free nations and for the next week, I’ll be in Stockholm learning how exactly it plans to do this.
On the invitation of Sweden’s department of foreign affairs, I will be among a group of journalists touring various facilities and meeting with chief officials and who will give a play-by-play of Sweden’s target to become increasingly, or completely, powered by non-fossil fuel energy sources over the next two decades. Here’s a link: http://www.government.se/government-policy/fossil-free-sweden/
My aim is to see some of these initiatives first hand and compare them to similar efforts being made in Greater Toronto, Canada’s economic engine.
As a reporter for Metroland Media, I have written extensively on sustainability, waste management and energy conservation initiatives as well as development and mass transit in Peel Region, one Canada’s most populous and high growth communities. I will be representing Metroland Central.
I depart from Toronto Sunday evening (19:00 hrs ) and scheduled to arrive in Stockholm by noon Monday (local time). I return Friday (June 3).

Here’s a brief list of what I’ll be doing:
